This Couple Returned to the Spanish Region Where They First Met for a Relaxed, Elegant Outdoor Wedding

After falling in love in Costa Brava, Spain, inviting their 120 guests to join them there for their ceremony and reception was a no brainer.

Georgina and Pablo first met in August of 2007 while summering in Costa Brava, Spain. She was friends with his younger brother, so Pablo would tag along on their outings from time to time. “We are a summer romance that ended up in a wedding,” Georgina says. “We have now been together for 11 years.” In July of 2018, Georgina’s phone died while she made her way back to London from Barcelona, so she had no way of letting Pablo know she was running late to meet him at their shared apartment. Little did she know, Pablo had decorated the flat with Christmas lights, flowers, and photos of their favorite memories together. When she finally arrived home, he was ready and waiting to ask for her hand in marriage, and Georgina happily said yes!

The couple knew right away they wanted to get married in Costa Brava, Spain, where they first met, fell in love, and spend all their summers. “It was hard to find a place that was what we expected as there are not many venues there,” Georgina says. They chose Mas Isern, a country house located in Forellac, Costa Brava, as the site of their wedding and invited 120 guests to join them for a relaxed, elegant celebration. “The house is a typical masía, we loved the garden and the hill with the green views all around,” the bride says.

The duo knew they wanted to get married in early September, but they also purchased a home to renovate in Barcelona that year, so they decided to take their time planning their wedding from London and choose a 2020 wedding date. Then, when Covid hit, they had to push their wedding date back another year, so they tied the knot on September 4, 2021. In the end, the pair planned the entire wedding themselves and filled the day with personal touches, such as bringing in a Chester sofa for the ceremony, a style of couch Pablo bought without consulting Georgina (of which everyone knew she hated), and using a playlist of songs they collected over their ten year relationship. Ahead, see how their hard work all came together in photographs from JFK Imagen Social

Georgina got ready with five of her closest confidants before the ceremony. She wore a low ponytail because she knows it’s Pablo’s favorite hairstyle on her and because she wanted a natural beauty look. “I don’t normally use any makeup unless I have a party or a dinner, so it was really important for me to be me,” she says. She accessorized with her grandmother’s earrings and ring, a small blue sapphire Roseton earring her sister gifted her as her "something blue," a Cartier ring Pablo gifted her for her birthday the day before, and her Tiffany & Co. engagement ring.

When Georgina first got engaged, she went wedding dress shopping with her friends and had a great time, but she didn’t end up finding a gown that felt like her style. Over her three year engagement, her style changed, too, so she decided to work with designer Veronica Miranda to design a dress made specifically with her preferences in mind. She ended up with a silk satin gown with an open back, square neckline, and fitted waist, along with an organza top dress with balloon sleeves that attached in the back with a half bow and ruffle tail. “I was able to define every detail and choose all the fabrics,” Georgina says.

She held three large hydrangea flowers, her favorite bloom, as her bouquet.

Pablo got ready for the wedding day in one of the house’s bedrooms with his father and brother. He wore a custom blue Jofré tuxedo with a dark blue vest paired with black Carmina shoes and lapis lazuli Loewe cufflinks that were a gift from his brother.

The couple’s ceremony took place on the lawn, where wooden chairs were set up facing a mature tree and a brown leather Chester couch as the focal point. The aisle was lined with purple allium flower arrangements with dried grasses.

Pablo walked down the aisle with his mother by his side. Georgina lost her father shortly before her engagement, so it was special for her to have her mother walk her down the aisle.

During the ceremony, Georgina and Pablo exchanged emotional vows they wrote for each other in front of their friends and family. Instead of exchanging rings like they did the year before, they decided to give each other a Mont Blanc pen to sign their vows in a personalized book as a nod to the first year of marriage; the year of paper. They then repurposed the book as a guest book that evening, allowing guests to attach photo booth pictures and write notes for them to read later.

The newlyweds shared some quick hugs with their friends and family before being whisked away by their photographer to a vintage car that was waiting to take them for a ride. The two enjoyed a few moments together soaking in their joy before they joined guests at the cocktail hour.

Guests mingled and enjoyed small plates and three food trucks during cocktail hour. The happy couple also served their favorite gin-based cocktail from Soho House, the Eastern Standard, as their signature drink.

Attendees found their seating assignments on a table decorated with a white table runner, stacked books, and flower arrangements. The escort cards featured custom watercolor illustrations indicating table assignments for dinner.

Georgina and Pablo held their wedding reception underneath a sailcloth tent where a variety of long and round tables were dressed in floor-length ivory linens. The poles of the tent were covered in greenery to bring the outdoors in. The centerpieces included blooms in shades of cream, orange, yellow, and berry tones, with overflowing greenery. The illustrations from the escort display were placed in the centerpiece arrangements to indicate table assignments. The place settings included glass chargers, blue plates with textured edges, blue linen napkins, and floral patterned bread plates.

Although Georgina and Pablo didn’t plan on having a wedding cake, their wedding date coincided with Georgina’s birthday, so Pablo’s parents insisted they have one to celebrate her on the big day. The triple tiered chocolate Victoria sponge cake had fruits and strawberry jam.

The newlyweds shared their first dance to “I Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” before opening up the dance floor and handing out tequila shots. They waited a while before they could safely travel on their honeymoon to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. To couples getting ready to get married, Georgina and Pablo say, “Enjoy every minute of the day because it’s the fastest and the happiest day ever.”
